Shell Beach is one of the natural attractions of the Shark Bay World Heritage Area. The small white shells stretch for 60km. Some parts are as much as ten metres deep. That's mind blowing! The countless empty shells belong to the Shark Bay cockle. This small, burrowing mollusc is only found in Western Australia.

Trillions of tiny shells from one type of animal, the Fragum cockle, make up the beaches here and around L'haridon Bight. Deposits are 10 metres deep in places.
